Covid-19 evening stroll in Ghent

Covid-19 frees up time to return to an old passion like blogging. I received these gorgeous shots taken by a good friend on a magical stroll through Ghent yesterday evening.  

Music in Ghent's "cultuurkapel"

Bruges is not the only city in Belgium to have beautiful canals. I particularly enjoyed my walk along the Sint-Antoniuskaai in Ghent last Sunday afternoon, on my way to attend a recital in the Cultuurkapel. 

The concert featured my favourite cellist, the highly talented young Belgian, Paul Heyman, with the phenomenal pianist, Isil Bengi. They gave us an electrifying show with masterful execution of Schubert, Pärt, Brahms, and Piazzolla, leaving the audience at the edge of their seats. At the end of each song, they were met with roaring applause and rightfully so.

"What a view!" was the first thing that crossed my mind the moment I walked into this room in Ghent last Friday. If only I had known,  I  had only my iphone with me...

Belgian Magnum photographers

As announced in my previous post, here are pictures of three of the four Belgian Magnum photographers. They engaged in an interesting exchange of ideas on documentary photography and the life and travails of belonging to the elite group of Magnum photographers.  The discussion was moderated by journalist Jef Lambrecht (photo 1), book signing by John Vink and Harry Gruyaert (photo 2) and Carl De Keyzer, shown here being filmed (photo 3).
