The Strombeek artists

Thanks to my friend, artist and photographer Els Hattink whose work and atelier I have shown before, I enjoyed a private tour of the exhibition of her local art club in Strombeek, a yearly event which, so it seems to me, becomes more impressive every time.
This time, it was more special because I met fellow artists Jan Wellens and Lydia Cauwenbergs
Els' work is shown in the last picture
I also was totally taken by the fine and delicate sculptures by Christian Cadelli.

Flower carpet Grand Place Brussels by Els Hattink

I will have no choice but to promote Els Hattink to permanent TiB guest photographer. I am grateful that she sent me these pictures of the bi-annual event which takes place during the Assumption holiday weekend, the  Brussels' Flower carpet. So many pictures have been circulating on the net but these are different because they show the interest and acrobatic manoevers of the public.
This year  Turkish patterns and 600.000 begonias commemorate the Turkish immigration to Belgium.

"Fresco's then and now" by Els Hattink

For those of you in or near Tervuren, I'd like to let you know that my good friend and great artist, Els Hattink, will expose her paintings at Art Gallery Charlotte Van Lorreinen. Do go discover and enjoy her work if you can! Above is Els' self portrait, which I got from her website www.elshattink.net

Academy of Etterbeek

I pursued my end of the academic year art academy trip and visited the Academy of Etterbeek.
A thorough cleaning job was going on  there in preparation of the exhibition  and open door days this coming weekend.
Els Hattink (picture 1), an accomplished painter and now a photography graduating student, was defending her work, street photography, with a smile and flair to her lecturer Johan Duyck (picture 2 and 3) and photographer Elisabeth Broekaert (picture 3 left), distinguished jury members.
Work of Elisabeth will be shown in the Fotomuseum in Antwerp during the summer.
