In the margin, Ghent

The exhibition "In de marge'" shows pictures of things that occur in the margin or, as described in the link below, on "the other site of human existence. the deviant, the unusual, the unnoticed , the vulgar.."  The venue is the Museum Dr Guislain in Ghent, a psychiatry museum which opened in 1986 and is worth a visit on its own merit. The catalogue of the exhibition contains a contribution by the museum on the link between psychiatry and documentary photography.

Among the participating photographers are Stephan Vanfleteren, Bruno Stevens, Filip Claus, Gaël Turine, Marc Trivier and Cédric Gerbehaye. Also on display is work of the four Belgian Magnum photographers Carl De Keyzer, Martine Franck, John Vink and Harry Gruyaert. The exhibition opened with an evening during which three of the latter four engaged in a lively discussion. Pictures of the three coming up tomorrow.
